2 guns -- one fake, one real

Ralston police posted this photo on Twitter. The top gun was the airsoft gun taken from the student. Police noted that the orange tip of the gun had been painted black. The bottom gun is a real firearm.

A Ralston High School student brought an airsoft plastic pellet gun to school on Thursday, according to a letter sent home to parents.

“There was never a threat to students, the school day proceeded regularly, and our process to address any safety concerns worked exactly as it should,” the letter said.

The letter continued:

“We appreciate that our students understand the importance of reporting any safety concern so administrators can investigate immediately, as they did Thursday.”

The district said that because of student privacy regulations, it could not go into specifics about the incident.

Friday is the last day of school for Ralston students.
