A 26-year-old Lincoln police officer has been cited on suspicion of buying alcohol for a minor — his 19-year-old girlfriend, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office investigated the case at the request of Lincoln Police Chief Jeffrey Bliemeister.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, the officer purchased the alcohol for his girlfriend during a gathering of off-duty police officers at a Lincoln bar in mid-December.

The officer has been placed on modified duty. The woman was cited on suspicion of being a minor in possession of alcohol.
