A suspect who has been wanted for seven months in the killing of a man in northeast Omaha was arrested Wednesday, police said.

Bernard R. Turner Jr., 21, was booked in the March 2 slaying of Jarrell Haynes. He is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Police allege that Turner shot Haynes, 22, on the porch of Haynes’ grandmother’s house at 1634 Victor Ave.

The shooting occurred after an altercation at the Douglas County Courthouse between Haynes and Turner, police have said.

Turner’s girlfriend, Secretia Benton, 26, is charged with accessory to a felony in the case.

The Metro Fugitive Task Force found Turner in the Bellevue area, Omaha police said. Tashekia Lockett, 27, was booked on suspicion of harboring a fugitive.
