LINCOLN — Jack Eichorst, the son of former University of Nebraska-Lincoln Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst, has been ordered to stand trial on a charge of distributing child pornography.

On Tuesday, Lancaster County Judge Matt Acton waived a preliminary hearing for the younger Eichorst, 18, that had been scheduled for Wednesday. The judge then ordered him bound over to District Court for trial.

Eichorst is scheduled to be arraigned April 4 on the felony charge. Authorities say that he used his cellphone to share links that had “several videos and images of prepubescent children depicted in sexual positions and sexual acts.”

Eichorst’s family has said that he has “significant developmental disabilities and special needs” and has asked that the public reserve judgment.

Shawn Eichorst was fired in September amid a disappointing football season after serving five years as UNL’s athletic director.
