A 22-year-old Omahan who has previously served time for shooting somebody has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in an Aug. 23 death near 28th and Spencer Streets.

Omaha Police announced Friday night that they had arrested Brian Haywood in connection with the shooting death of Keith Chambers .

Chambers, 22, was found lying on the ground with a life-threatening injury near the Spencer Apartment Complex. He died at Nebraska Medical Center four days later.

Two women were arrested shortly afterward and accused of being accessories to the crime.

Haywood previously served two years in prison for the 2013 shooting of a 19-year-old woman. According to court documents in that case, Haywood was a known member of the Hilltop Crips gang.

Haywood was also convicted in May of a misdemeanor count of domestic assault. In that case, an ex-girlfriend with whom Haywood has a child said that when she asked him to babysit, he knocked her down and punched her in the head.
