An Omaha man was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and traveling at 102 mph with a 5-year-old boy in his SUV.

The 31-year-old was booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of DUI. He had a blood alcohol level of .218, according to a Nebraska State Patrol spokesman. The man also was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, speeding, willful reckless driving, obstructing a police officer, operating a vehicle to avoid arrest, having an open liquor container and transporting a child while intoxicated.

About 8 p.m. Saturday, a trooper saw a Chevy Trailblazer traveling at 102 mph on eastbound Interstate 80 near 60th Street in Omaha. The trooper tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled and continued traveling at more than 80 mph.

After exiting I-80 southbound at U.S. Highway 75, the SUV drove through neighborhoods before eventually stopping at a residence near 16th and L Streets. The driver got out of the SUV, the spokesman said, and resisted arrest.

The pursuit lasted about 4 minutes, the patrol said. The child was turned over to a family member.
