The Nebraska State Patrol says two of 55 businesses checked in two south-central Nebraska counties last week failed to comply with state laws against selling alcohol to minors.

The patrol checks occurred Friday at 46 businesses in Adams County and nine businesses in Clay County. The retail outlets checked were convenience, liquor and grocery stores as well as restaurants and bars, the patrol said.

The two non-compliant businesses were situated in Adams County — Discount City and El Puerto, both of Hastings, the patrol said.

The compliance checks were conducted in part due to a $2,640 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
