Nebraska state troopers seized more than 1,600 pounds of edible marijuana products, THC wax and marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 on Thursday.

Nebraska State Patrol troopers seized more than 1,600 pounds of edible marijuana products, THC wax and marijuana after a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near Milford.

It was “by far the largest seizure of THC edibles” troopers have ever made, the patrol said. The estimated street value of the illegal products is more than $550,000, the patrol said.

A trooper spotted a 2018 Dodge Caravan speeding on I-80 about 2:30 p.m. Thursday. During a search of the vehicle, troopers found 488 boxes that each contained 50 THC candy bars, plus 465 units of THC wax and 11 pounds of marijuana. The total weight was 1,640 pounds.

The 44-year-old driver and 38-year-old passenger, both of North Grafton, Massachusetts, were arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver and were taken to the Seward County Jail.
