A Lincoln police officer required a trip to the hospital for facial injuries after a man charged and head-butted him.

About 12:20 a.m. Saturday, police officers were placing a man in civil protective custody after a disturbance at The Bridge, a behavioral health center, when the man became uncooperative, according to the Lincoln Police Department.

The man charged officers after his restraints were removed and head-butted one officer who attempted to restrain him, police said.

The officer was treated and released from a local hospital for facial injuries after he was hit around the nose, police said.

The man was taken into custody at Lancaster County Corrections Center on suspicion of third-degree assault on an officer.
