A Bellevue police officer who has been booked into jail is accused of punching an Omaha police officer in the chest, according to an incident report.

Craig A. Wiech, 52, called 911 Sunday just before 10 p.m. to report a shooting at his home near 189th and L Streets.

Inside, authorities found the body of Carrie A. Brown, 48. Brown and Wiech were in a relationship, authorities said.

Wiech was outside with first responders when he became verbally and physically aggressive, according to the report.

When officers attempted to calm him, Wiech said, “I’m gonna (expletive) you up,” according to the report.

Wiech then punched Omaha Police Officer Karl Girard in the chest, officials said. Two Douglas County sheriff’s deputies witnessed the punch.

Girard and other officers had to use force to take Wiech into custody, the report said.

Wiech has been booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of assaulting a peace officer.

Authorities still are investigating the circumstances surrounding Brown’s death. An autopsy was to have been conducted Monday.
