A Bellevue teacher was ordered held on $275,000 bail Tuesday after being charged in Sarpy County Court with six counts of possession of child pornography.
Roger Jaeger, 46, of Bellevue was arrested Friday at the school and booked into the Sarpy County Jail, Bellevue police said. In court Tuesday, he waived his right to a preliminary hearing, and the case was forwarded to district court for trial.
Jaeger faces up to 20 years in prison on each count. He must pay 10 percent of the bail amount, or $27,500, to be released from jail.
Jaeger is a seventh-grade teacher at Logan Fontenelle Middle School. Principal Doug Schaefer told parents in a letter that Jaeger was escorted out of the building without incident and has been placed on administrative leave.
Amanda Oliver, a spokeswoman for the Bellevue Public Schools, said Jaeger, a science teacher, has been with the district since 2003.
Police were called to Affordable Computer Repair in Bellevue on Thursday afternoon after employees found possible child pornography on a customer’s computer. That computer belonged to Jaeger, police said.
Officers confirmed that there was child pornography on the computer being repaired and executed a search warrant Friday morning. Police said hundreds of suspected child pornography images were found on the computer.
