SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — A Sidney man took his life after killing his wife, according to the Cheyenne County Attorney's Office.

County Attorney Paul Schaub identified a couple found dead Friday in Sidney as Jeffery C. Jensen, 39, and Rachelle C. Jensen, 36.

Law enforcement responded to the scene after the woman's employer called to report that she had not been at work for several days.

Schaub said that preliminary autopsy findings showed that gunshot wounds were the cause of death for both. Rachelle Jensen's death has been ruled a homicide, and she is believed to have been killed Jan. 9.

Jeffery Jensen's death has been determined to be a suicide, and he also apparently died Jan. 9.

Autopsies were conducted Monday morning.

The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, the Sidney Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol investigated the deaths.
