A 24-year-old Papillion man was arrested and two women were injured early Monday during a brief police pursuit in Council Bluffs.

The chase began about 1:25 a.m. at 15th Street and West Broadway after Bluffs police spotted a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner, authorities said.

The driver refused to pull over and the chase ended about five minutes later at 36th Street and Avenue G when the vehicle crashed into a fence and rolled onto its side. The driver resisted arrest and attempted to run from the crash scene but was taken into custody by Bluffs police.

Police said it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen in Omaha and that it had fraudulent license plates.

Authorities said the driver, who was being sought on an arrest warrant out of Douglas County, had methamphetamine on him.

Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to deliver meth, second-degree theft, felony eluding arrest, reckless driving, speeding, unlawful possession of prescription medication, possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with official acts by a police officer and being a fugitive from justice.

The two women who were hurt suffered minor injuries, police said, and they were taken to Mercy Hospital in the Bluffs.
