KEARNEY, Neb. — Two University of Nebraska at Kearney students have been accused of sexually assaulting a female student on campus.
Prestin Melroy, 19, of Holdrege and Zachary Reikofski, 18, of Fairbury have been charged in Buffalo County Court with felony first-degree sexual assault.
Court records detailing the allegations are sealed, but the alleged assault reportedly took place Sunday in a residence hall.
Melroy and Reikofski appeared in court Wednesday, and Judge John Rademacher set bail at $25,000 each.
Melroy posted bail, but Reikofski remained in custody Thursday morning.
They are scheduled to appear in court in December.
UNK sent a campuswide email Monday afternoon saying the university had received a report of a sexual assault in a residence hall, said UNK spokesman Todd Gottula, who declined to say which residence hall.
