KEARNEY, Neb. — A Bellevue man faces federal charges after allegedly selling nearly eight pounds of methamphetamine in the Kearney area.

Robert Howard, 32, was arrested July 11 after police had been monitoring the area near a Kearney hotel.

He has been indicted in U.S. Federal District in Omaha on charges of conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of meth and possession with the intent to distribute meth while carrying a 9mm handgun. He is scheduled to appear in court in March for a hearing on a motion to suppress.

Charges against Howard in Buffalo County Court were dismissed after federal charges were filed in November.
