COUNCIL BLUFFS — Bail has been set at $50,000 for a 19-year-old accused of trying to abduct a girl near a Council Bluffs elementary school.

Nathan Busse appeared in court before Associate District Court Judge Charles Fagan.

Police said that shortly before 2:30 p.m. Monday, a 10-year-old fifth-grader was walking on Fourth Avenue about a block from Edison Elementary School when Busse allegedly approached her, grabbed her arm and forced her to walk with him.

The girl broke free of his grasp and ran to a family member.

Busse reportedly ran away but was located by the girl's father, who held him for police.

Busse was arrested on suspicion of third-degree kidnapping, assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, enticing a minor and child stealing.

Fagan also issued a no-contact order barring Busse from contact with the victim and her family.

A preliminary hearing was set for Feb. 7.
