A chance to cry, say goodbye to Nebraska soldiers headed for Afghanistan

Staff Sgt. Jen Feldt hugs Jill Woodruff. Both women are from Lincoln.

Ten members of the 12-person Nebraska National Guard Agribusiness Development Team No. 4 got a fond farewell from friends and family Tuesday at the Joint Force Headquarters in Lincoln before they start a mission that will take them to Afghanistan.

The nine soldiers and one airman are mobilizing for a yearlong mission designed to help Afghan farmers and agricultural officials redevelop their agricultural infrastructure after decades of war.

The final two members of the team will join the group later in the mission.
