Five meet records, two in the boys competition and three in the girls, were bettered Saturday at the Omaha Burke swimming invitational.

Omaha Creighton Prep and Omaha Marian emerged as team champions in the opening meet of the season.

Marian swimmers were involved in the three girls records that included topping a 15-year-old mark in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Maddie Clark, Jocelyn Randby, Jessica Brusnihan and Isabella Pantano touched first in 1:50.26 to top the previous record of 1:50.86 set by Marian in 2003.

Pantano also set a new standard in the 100 backstroke by winning in 57.48, while Randby did the same in winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.70.

The Crusaders edged Omaha Westside 349-288 for the girls team title, with Elkhorn/Elkhorn South finishing third with 228 points. Westside and the Stormin’ Antlers also were second and third to Prep, which won the boys meet with 411 points. The Warriors were second with 323, followed by Elkhorn with 189.

Prep’s 400 freestyle relay team of Rush Clark, Andrew Hood, Danny Perry and Ross Pantano won the final event of the boys meet in 3:15.14, 1.29 seconds faster than the previous record of 3:16.43 set by Prep in 2014. Clark also set a new standard in the 200 freestyle, winning in 1:44.23.
