Recruiting report: Papillion-La Vista South's Chase Norblade drawing interest for versatility

Papillion-La Vista South's Chase Norblade will attend South Dakota State's prospect camp on June 21 and Northern Iowa's camp in late July.

Papillion-La Vista South's Chase Norblade switched positions two seasons ago and it has paid off on the recruiting trail.

Norblade is settling in nicely at wide receiver and cornerback. Before the 2017 season, he played quarterback and linebacker.

The 6-foot-2, 190 pound senior-to-be has received four Division II scholarship offers. Minnesota State was the first to offer, followed by Augustana, Bemidji State and Emporia State.

He plans to camp at two FCS schools in the next few months. He will attend South Dakota State's prospect camp on June 21 and Northern Iowa's camp in late July.

"I want to build relationships with the coaches at those camps and see all the campuses," Norblade said. "I want to show those schools how aggressive and athletic I am."

Norblade said he is also working on getting better as a receiver and cornerback this summer.

"I am working on my skill work," he said. "I'm focusing on getting my feet down and reading the ball in the air."

Norblade plays with aggression and is an attacking defender. The schools that have offered a scholarship are recruiting him for his versatility.

"Most colleges are recruiting me as a strong safety and some have talked about me playing both ways as a receiver and corner," he said.

For now, his plan is to wait until after the season to make a decision.

"I will probably wait until after my senior season and see what offers are there," he said.
