Omaha Burke's Xavier Watts holds scholarship offers from South Dakota State, Iowa State and Purdue. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound wide receiver is well on his way to adding to the list.
The sophomore, a two-way player for the Bulldogs, also plays defensive back.
"Schools are recruiting me as an outside receiver," Watts said.
Watts is planning on taking two unofficial visits to Power Five schools, including one that hasn't offered him yet.
"I'm going to Nebraska for their junior day on Saturday and Iowa State on Monday," he said.
"I hope to get the feel of the program, meet the coaches and see how their offense and defense works. I really want to see how everything runs."
Watts is playing AAU basketball this summer and will have to work around that schedule for any future unofficial visits. He said football would be his first choice, though.
"I want to get to Purdue and South Dakota State sometime this summer," he said.
Minnesota, Iowa, Penn State, Mississippi and Mississippi State are the other schools that have shown interest in Watts.
Watts had 35 receptions for 813 yards and nine receiving touchdowns last season. He said he is working on three things to improve those numbers.
"I want to get stronger, faster, block better and run my routes better or more crisp so I can get open more," he said.
