Omaha Creighton Prep senior John Bullock gave Nebraska’s coaching staff a late Christmas present.
The 6-1, 195-pound athlete committed to walking on as part of the Huskers’ 2019 recruiting class on Wednesday.
“(Nebraska) has always been my favorite team,” Bullock said. “When I visited there everything about it was awesome and it has always been my dream to play at Nebraska.”
Bullock took a visit to NU when the Huskers faced Michigan State and was invited to Nebraska’s “Homegrown” walk-on event earlier this month.
“I got to talk to the other recruits and got to know them and the coaches better,” Bullock said of the event. “I talked to (strength) coach (Zach) Duval and he gave me good advice.”
Bullock chose walking on at Nebraska over scholarship offers from Division II schools Augustana and Lindenwood along with interest from South Dakota, South Dakota State, Iowa, Iowa State and Tulsa.
Recruited as an athlete, Bullock said he will most likely start his career at safety when he gets on campus.
Bullock is the 14th known member of Nebraska’s walk-on class.
