Chase Perchal

Chase Perchal played both sides of the ball for Millard South last season.

Chase Perchal, a versatile athlete from Millard South in the 2020 class, announced his commitment to North Dakota on Monday.

Perchal plays wide receiver and safety for the Patriots. He can also return kicks. Some colleges were recruiting him to play offense, while others saw him as a defensive prospect.

North Dakota wants him to play safety.

“North Dakota just seemed like home to me,” Perchal said. “I got along with the players well on the visits. I received more handwritten letters from them than the other schools combined.”

North Dakota was Perchal’s only Division I offer, though he did hold offers from Division II schools Augustana, Minnesota State, Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State.

After transferring from Yutan before his junior season, Perchal had a breakout performance in the first round of the state playoffs. He scored touchdowns on a 77-yard punt return and a 58-yard interception return in a victory over Lincoln Pius X.

In track, Perchal finished fifth in the 100 meters at the Class A state meet with a time of 11.021 seconds.

Perchal is at least the seventh Nebraska player in the 2020 class to commit to a Division I school on a football scholarship.
