2018 Lincoln Southwest athlete Justin Holm committed to Nebraska on Saturday afternoon via Twitter as a preferred walk-on.

Holm was a standout performer at the Huskers' Friday Night Lights camp and parlayed his performance into a preferred walk-on offer from NU.

“Ever since I was a kid, it has been a dream of mine to play at Nebraska,” Holm said. “To be surrounded by the best fans and best atmosphere in college football is something I wanted to be a part of.”

Holm is 6-foot-6, 190 pounds and plays wide receiver for Lincoln Southwest. According to Holm, the Huskers see him as an athlete and will figure out a position later.

“I look forward to working with Coach Williams and Coach Diaco, I have a lot of respect for them,” he said.” “They said I could play either wideout or the dog (rover) position on defense.”

Holm received an offer from South Dakota on Friday night and chose Nebraska over the Coyotes and a previous offer from North Dakota.

“I want to thank all of the schools that have shown interest in me and or offered me,” Holm said. “Being a kid from Nebraska and playing for Nebraska — there is nothing that can beat that.”

Holm is ready to compete for his spot on the team. “I will work hard to achieve that goal and be a part of the team and have a chance to play on Saturdays.”
