Each week for the remainder of the high school basketball season, we will name one boy and one girl as Stat Stuffers of the Week.
But that doesn't mean they're the players who put up the most points or recorded the most rebounds. We're looking for the most efficient players.
If someone scores 15 points but only shot 6 of 20 from the field, that's not very efficient. But if someone scored 15 points and hit 7 of 8 field goals — while adding some assists, steals and rebounds — that's a performance worthy of being our Stat Stuffer of the Week.
So here are this week's Nebraska high school basketball Stat Stuffers of the Week:
Baylor Scheierman, Sr., G, Aurora: The South Dakota State signee did just about everything in the Huskies' 72-52 win over Cozad at the Heartland Hoops Classic. The senior had a triple-double with 19 points, 16 rebounds and 15 assists. He also added five steals and two blocked shots.
Anselmo-Merna senior Seth Miller scored 24 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in a 57-42 win over South Loup on Tuesday. He followed that up with a 26-point, eight-rebound performance Friday in a 64-60 win over Ansley/Litchfield.
Clarkson/Leigh freshman Jarred Novotny scored 42 points on 13-of-24 shooting in a 78-72 win over East Butler. Novotny was 8 of 18 from the 3-point line and had four assists.
McKenna Sims, Sr., G, South Sioux City: Sims totaled 27 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds in a 80-75 win over Sioux City Heelan on Tuesday. The Illinois State signee followed that up with 30 points, 12 rebounds, nine steals and eight rebounds in a 90-85 win over Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Tuesday.
