Tri-Center's Britton Barrier


Finalists for The World-Herald’s western Iowa athlete of the year awards. The winners will be announced on Sunday.

Britton Barrier, Tri-Center

Morningside College football recruit was second-team All-Western Iowa in that sport. First-team all-state and first-team All-WI in basketball. Also as a senior, set a nine-hole school record in golf, qualified for state track in 400 relay and was second-team all-conference in baseball.

Ricky Williams, Riverside

Briar Cliff University basketball recruit was first-team all-state and first-team All-WI in that sport, leading the school to its first state appearance. First-team All-WI in football as a lineman. State qualifier in the shot put and discus as a senior.

Kaylee Blake, IKM-Manning

Briar Cliff University basketball recruit was first-team all-state and first-team All-WI in that sport. Third-team all-state and second-team All-WI in volleyball. Second in the state in the discus as a senior with a career-best 143-7 and seventh in the shot put.

Chaley Rath, Treynor

Northern Iowa track recruit was three-time state high jump champion. Also as a senior won the 100 hurdles, finished second in the shuttle hurdle relay and fourth in the 400 hurdles. Third-team all-state and second-team All-WI in volleyball and a basketball contributor.
