YORK – The Hampton Hawks turned the ball over and the Exeter-Milligan T-Wolves made them pay the price, with easy baskets and a big win.

In girls' CRC Tournament action on Tuesday at the York City Auditorium, the Exeter-Milligan girls advanced to the semifinal round with a 74-46 win.

Exeter-Milligan (12-4) will take on top seed Shelby Rising City at 3 p.m. Thursday for the right to advance to the championship final on Friday. In a game at Shelby earlier this year the T-Wolves pushed the Huskies to the limit before falling 37-36.

Hampton was able to keep things close in the early going as they trailed only 17-12 after the first eight minutes, but with the turnover count mounting against them the Exeter-Milligan girls were scoring with ease on breakaway baskets and uncontested shots.

The T-Wolves had no trouble pushing the ball in the paint and when the Hawks tried to congest the paint area, Logan Zeleny made the Hawks pay from the wing.

The No. 4 seed and No. 8 team in Class D-1 extended the lead through the first two quarters to 39-22 and while Hampton made a run the third quarter, the Hawks never got the lead under 10 points.

Hampton finished the game with 26 turnovers and the T-Wolves, who also had some ball handling issues, ended the game with 17.

Exeter-Milligan was led in scoring by Megan Zwickl who controlled the paint area with a game-high 23 points, while Zeleny hit three 3-point shots and finished with 21. Jennifer Pribyl was charted with 17.

The T-Wolves were 30-55 from the field and that also included 4-6 from the 3-point arc. In the win the E-M girls canned 10-14 free throws. In the fourth quarter the T-Wolves were 7-9 from the floor.

The Hawks hit just 13-41 from the field, 3-9 from 3-point range and 17-26 from the charity stripe. In scoring Teya Mason finished with 17, while Hannah Bamesberger and Kalynn Dahlke ended the game with eight points each.
