Fillmore Central junior Leyton Hopken won’t soon forget his performance at Sandy Creek High School this past Tuesday night. The junior had a career high 37 points and the Panthers needed every one of them to hold off the Cougars in boys SNC action by the final score of 72-71.

The Sandy Creek Cougars hosted the 2015 Southern Nebraska Conference Wrestling Championships on Friday with 10 teams making their way to Fairfield.

It didn't come anything close to easy for Heartland, but as the clock wound down they left the Sandy Creek Cougars no option but to put the Huskies at the line. They were up to the challenge, hit 8-of-12 free throws in the final two minutes and won 67-53.
