The Morrill girls basketball team boosted its winning streak to five games when it dropped Minatare 58-21 Friday night in Morrill. In the boys game, Minatare prevailed 45-42 over Morrill. Improving to 9-3 for the season, the Lady Lions dominated the court, scoring double digits in all four quarters.

For the first time in 70 years, the Minatare boys basketball team is going back to the state tournament. The Indians punched their ticket with a 61-41 win over Cody-Kilgore in the Class D-2, Distrit 6 final on Tuesday night in Hyannis. Minatare, which improved to 21-2 on the season, will open up play in the state tournament on Thursday, March 12 in Lincoln.

The Minatare boys basketball team captured the championship of the Minuteman Activities Conference Tournament with a 47-40 win over Bayard in the title game on Saturday night in Sidney.
