The Lady Bobcats (12-10) used staunch defense to defeat Maywood-Hayes Center (11-10) 40-30 in a girls D1-11 Sub-District semifinal matchup on Tuesday in Gothenburg, setting up a date with No. 1-seeded Brady (15-7) in tomorrow’s sub-district title game.

The senior trio of Kadin Copeland, Brook Blomstedt and Trey Rongisch accounted for all but eight of Sutherland’s points, as the Sailors defeated Maxwell 59-49 on Tuesday.

Maxwell outscored Brady 18-10 in the third quarter en route to a 66-46 victory on Tuesday in Maxwell.

Ryan Mckeeman ran for three touchdowns, had two receiving touchdowns and returned a fumble for a touchdown in Maxwell’s 94-23 win over Paxton on Friday.

On the first play from scrimmage, Maxwell running back Ryan Mckeeman burst through a huge hole on the right side and took it 51 yards for a touchdown. That was a reoccurring theme all night, as Mckeeman ran for 297 yards and seven touchdowns as No. 10 Maxwell defeated Sutherland 54-34 at Brittenham Field on Friday.

Jaylon Sturdivant took an early 8-2 lead and then put Preston Johnson in a leg cradle to pin him in 1 minute, 28 seconds on Thursday. “You just have to use your setups that you know you can get to that move with. I just set it up with what I had to and did it,” Sturdivant said.

The Maxwell Wildcat football team was able to cross off several goals on Thursday night after defeating Mullen 67-27 in their regular season finale.
