EXETER - It wasn't a thing of beauty, but it was a mark in the 'W' column nonetheless Thursday night for the homestanding T-Wolf girls.

Exeter-Milligan downed the Hornets from Giltner by an even 10 points, 37-27 in a rematch of last Friday's Crossroads Conference championship. That one went to the T-Wolves, 47-34.

Thursday the T-Wolves got two late free throws from Logan Zeleny and led at the end of one, 11-6. By halftime it was 18-11 T-Wolves.

The Hornets fell behind, then battled back to within four at 28-24 in the final period, but clutch free throws from Taylor Erdkamp, Zeleny and Jackie Luzum, plus a field goal by Amber Pribyl with an assist from Zeleny, held Giltner at bay.

E-M got 10 field goals and went 17-23 at the line, including 8-10 by Zeleny. Giltner netted only six field goals on the night and shot 15-22 at the stripe, including 8-10 by Dani Most.

E-M Coach Jackson Krejci said it was "a defensive battle. We played really well last Friday" but not as good in this game.

The big thing, he said, was Giltner's defense against his team's offense.

"We were complacent," he said. "We weren't working hard."

E-M got 10 points from Taylor Erdkamp and eight each from Megan Zwickl, Luzum and Zeleny. Giltner did not enjoy that kind of balance with Most at 13 points and no other Hornet over five.

The T-Wolves improved to 15-4 with the victory and will host Hampton tonight. Giltner fell to 13-6 ahead of tonight's game at Dorchester.
