Finalists for The World-Herald’s western Iowa athlete of the year awards. Previous finalists were Britton Barrier of Tri-Center, Ricky Williams of Riverside, Kaylee Blake of IKM-Manning and Chaley Rath of Treynor. The winners will be announced on Sunday.

Dom Thompson-Williams

Sioux City East

Iowa Western baseball recruit was first-team all-state and first-team All-Western Iowa in that sport as a senior, leading the Black Raiders to a runner-up finish in Class 4-A. Also as a senior, he was first-team all-state and first-team All-Western Iowa as a receiver.

Daniel Tillo

Sioux City North

Sophomore was first-team all-state and first-team All-Western Iowa in basketball. He threw for 1,222 yards in football. He finished with a 7-0 pitching record and a 1.97 ERA in baseball, to go with a .368 batting average and 22 RBIs.

MAKAYLA AUGUSTINE

Sioux City Heelan

Morningside basketball recruit was first-team all-state and first-team All-Western Iowa in basketball. She was second-team all-state and first-team All-Western Iowa in softball. She finished second in the conference tennis meet at No. 2 doubles.

Carmen Subbert

Stanton

The junior was first-team all-state and first-team All-Western Iowa in volleyball. A second-team All-Western Iowa basketball player, she placed fourth at state in the 100-meter hurdles. She was second-team All-Western Iowa in softball.
