​​Powered by junior guard Nicole Avila-Ambrosi's 19 points, Top 10 No. 9 Millard North defeated Top 10 No. 2 Millard South 55-54 on Saturday night.

Mustang senior and Northwest Missouri State signee Jayna Green tied the game at 47 with 4:36 left in the fourth quarter, helping complete a nine-point comeback.

Maddie Krull gave the Patriots (11-2) a 54-53 lead with 48 seconds left, but Avila-Ambrosi connected on the game-winning basket with eight seconds left for Millard North (9-3).

"I'm so proud of Nicole, and proud of our team defense," Millard North coach David Diehl said. "They are a state championship team and I think we are too. We showed some toughness and grit and made big plays at the end."

Creighton commit Jayme Horan got a look at a game winner that didn't fall as time expired. Horan finished with 24 points for the Patriots.
