GENEVA – A 28-point second quarter by the Fillmore Central Panthers set the tone for the rest of the night as FC defeated the Sandy Creek Cougars 55-20 in prep football action Friday.

The Panthers ran the ball 39 times for 207 yards with Lance Donovan’s 13 rushes for 82 yards and two touchdowns leading the way.

Trevor Adams was 14-64 with one score, Hunter Kleinschmidt ran five times for 36 yards and a TD, while Parker Trowbridge and Derek O’Connor both crossed the goal line in the win.

In the passing game, Kleinschmidt was 8-12 with two touchdowns, 168 yards and no interceptions.

The receiving crew was led by Xavier Bridges with two receptions for 42 yards and one score, while Adams had three catches for 77 yards and a TD. Leyton Hopken pulled in three catches for 49 yards.

On defense, Riley Chapman and Davis Jacobson had 12 tackles, Kleinschmidt eight. The team recorded seven sacks as Adams and Jarrod Hinrichs had three each.

SC had 209 yards of total offense with the passing game accounting for 133 yards and the Cougars added 76 on the ground.

Fillmore Central (2-2) will host Centennial (2-2) Friday night in the first game of C2-3 District play this season.
