Four western Iowa girls basketball teams in Class 1-A and 2-A on Monday will make their bids for the state tournament in regional finals.
One qualifier is assured from The World-Herald’s coverage area, as state No. 2 Exira-EHK (22-0) meets unrated Nodaway Valley (18-5) in the Class 1-A, Region 7 final at Red Oak. Sophomore Sophia Peppers leads Exira-EHK with 16.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, while junior Josie Clarke paces Nodaway Valley with 14.7 points and 11.3 rebounds.
Also in 1-A, unrated Audubon (16-7) will face No. 7 Newell-Fonda (17-6) in the Region 8 final at Ida Grove. Senior Emily Haubrich leads Audubon with 14.6 points per game.
In the Class 2-A, Region 8 final at Mapleton, No. 3 and defending champion Orange City Unity Christian (21-1) will meet No. 10 Treynor (21-1). Sophomore Madelyn Deitchler leads Treynor with 15.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
All games are 7 p.m. starts.
