SCHUYLER – After Friday night’s upset loss to the Seward Lady Jays, the Schuyler Warriors girls basketball team got the brunt of the Dukes’ frustrations on Saturday afternoon.

York took the lead early and blew the Warriors right out of their home gym by the final score of 66-23 in Central Conference regular season action.

York improved to 19-3, while the Lady Warriors dropped to 1-20 on the year.

York took the lead right out of the gates and led 15-7 at the end of the first quarter and 33-12 at the break.

The Dukes continued to build the second half lead as they won the third quarter 8-1 and the fourth 16-3.

Once the Dukes crossed the 40 point barrier the clock ran continuously till the end of the game.

The Dukes were led in scoring by Jenny Kadavy with 13, Emma Grenfell tossed in 11, Tenly Hansen hit for nine and Kennedy Mogul added eight.

York was 25-of-52 from the field, 6-of-16 from 3-point range and 10-of-19 at the charity stripe.

Schuyler was paced by Maddy Wolfe with 10 points and Lauren Kasik chipped in with six.

The Lady Warriors were 5-of-29 from the field overall, missed all three 3-point shots and went 11-of-22 from the free throw line.

Schuyler committed 21 turnovers to 13 for the Dukes.

“We played a total team game against Schuyler and did a nice job of rebounding after the tough loss to Seward,” commented York head coach Matt Kern. “Our pressure bothered Schuyler and we took high quality shots. We are excited for a week of preparation to play a tough Beatrice team.”

The Dukes, 19-3 and No. 5 in the Class B state rankings, will take on the No. 6 Beatrice Lady Orange at 5:45 Friday night.
