The World-Herald's Mike Patterson put together what you should know about Tuesday's Class A girls district semifinals.


Omaha Bryan (0-22) at Lincoln Pius X (17-4), 5:30 p.m.: The Bears have lost 37 in a row dating to last season. The fifth-ranked Thunderbolts are rolling for first-year coach Ryan Psota, having won 11 of their past 12.

Omaha Marian (10-12) at Lincoln North Star (11-11), 6 p.m.: The Crusaders have had their moments, including a 15-point win at North Star on Jan. 26. The Navigators have won five of their past six, including a victory over then-No. 1 Papillion-La Vista.


Omaha South (2-20) at Millard South (19-3), 5:30 p.m.: The Packers have played the third-ranked Patriots twice this season, and neither game was close. Millard South enters districts riding a seven-game win streak and has moved ahead of Pius in the point standings.

Lincoln High (10-12) at Kearney (13-10), 5:30 p.m.: The Links gave No. 6 Omaha Westside all it wanted Friday night, losing 58-55. The Bearcats have a late-season road victory over Class B state qualifier Elkhorn South.


Bellevue East (3-19) at Lincoln Southwest (18-4), 5 p.m.: The Chieftains are winless since a victory over Omaha South on Dec. 21. The fourth-ranked Silver Hawks have won six of their past seven.

Lincoln Southeast (10-12) at Omaha Northwest (12-12), 5:30 p.m.: The Knights have struggled against ranked opponents. The Huskies have lost six in a row since a season-ending hand injury to leading scorer Ale’jah Douglas.


Omaha Central (4-18) at Lincoln East (17-5), 5:30 p.m.: The Eagles turned in a respectable effort in their regular-season finale, losing on the road to Southwest. The top-ranked Spartans have won eight in a row.

Gretna (7-11) at Omaha Benson (16-5), 5 p.m.: It’s been a tough season for the Dragons, although they won their last two regular-season games. The No. 10 Bunnies have not lost at home and won at then-No. 1 Millard North last week .

Grand Island (2-20) at Omaha Westside (20-4), 5:30 p.m.: The Islanders scored a season-low 19 points in an earlier game against the Warriors. The defending Class A champion has won 12 of its past 13.

Omaha Burke (11-11) at Millard West (12-10), 5:30 p.m.: The Bulldogs posted a 47-46 home win over the Wildcats on Jan. 8. Millard West has won five of its past six, including victories over Lincoln Northeast and Benson.


Omaha North (6-15) at Papillion-La Vista (20-4), 5:15 p.m.: The Vikings lost to the Monarchs by 26 on Jan. 19. No. 9 Papio won its final two games after dropping three of four.

Bellevue West (8-14) at Fremont (17-7), 5 p.m.: The Thunderbirds have lost four of their past five, the exception a 66-58 win at Northwest on Feb. 2. The No. 8 Tigers went 2-4 in their final six, with all four losses against ranked foes.


Norfolk (5-17) at Millard North (18-4), 5 p.m.: The Panthers went 2-3 over their last five and played Lincoln East fairly tough in a 10-point setback. The No. 2 Mustangs dropped from No. 1 after its 46-42 loss to Benson.

Papillion-La Vista South (9-13) at Lincoln Northeast (15-6), 5:30 p.m.: The Titans finished strong in their season finale, posting a 21-point win over Northwest. The No. 7 Rockets have posted four wins over Top 10 teams.


» Each district final Thursday will be hosted by the highest remaining seeded team.
