LINCOLN — No. 4 BDS never led in the second half until the final 30 seconds of its 36-34 win over No. 8 Mullen Thursday night in the Class D-2 quarterfinals at Lincoln North Star.

Regan Alfs’ putback with 25 seconds left for a 36-34 lead capped a closing 16-4 run for the Eagles (22-4), who trailed by 10 in the third quarter.

Alfs and Macy Kamler each had 10 points for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley. Kamler had the game-tying free throw.

Samantha Moore scored her game-high 11 points for Mullen (21-4) in the first three quarters.

BDS continues its bid to return to the state finals, where it was D-1 runner-up last season, against Wynot at 8:45 p.m. Friday in the semifinals at the Devaney Center.
