Millard West’s Cole Stobbe was named the Gatorade Nebraska baseball player of the year Thursday.

The award recognizes athletic excellence and high standards of academic achievement.

Stobbe, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound junior shortstop, batted .426 with four home runs, 43 runs scored and 44 RBI this season while leading the Wildcats to the Class A state tournament.
