Sandhills State Bank of Bassett will widen its footprint in western Nebraska once it closes on the purchase of the Bank of Keystone.

The deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close by late May.

Headquartered in Bassett, in the north-central part of the state, Sandhills has five other locations: in North Platte, Valentine, Hay Springs, Alliance and Harrison.

The deal includes all four of the Bank of Keystone’s branches — in Keystone, Hyannis, Arthur and Elsie — each of which is to stay open.

Randy Hendricks, chief executive at the Bank of Keystone, said the deal is “win-win” for the two banks’ rural customer bases and communities.

The resulting institution will include 10 locations and about $230 million in assets.
