Core Bank has opened its first office outside of Nebraska in the Kansas City area, where the Omaha-based bank will focus on business lending from a loan production office.
Jason Moxness will lead Core Bank’s new effort in Overland Park, Kansas.
Officials with the bank say they see a good opportunity to reach small businesses in the area by offering conventional business loans in addition to loans made through the federal Small Business Administration.
Moxness, a veteran Kansas City-area banker, said having a relatively smaller bank competing in a market full of national lenders should resonate with the smaller businesses Core Bank hopes to loan money to.
Core Bank is the No. 10-largest bank in the Omaha area in terms of local deposits with about $380 million, according to the latest federal figures.
