Omaha boutique Nouvelle Eve is celebrating 40 years in business Tuesday.

The women's clothing boutique located at 1102 Howard St. in the Old Market opened Aug. 6, 1973 amid the women's rights movement, and says it has a tradition of empowering women. Nouvelle Eve also sells accessories and gift items.

The store plans discounts and hourly drawings Tuesday.

The boutique founded by Kat Moser at 1102 Howard St. is one of the Old Market’s original stores.

About 18 months ago, Moser sold the business to Susie Keuck, who had been Nouvelle Eve’s general manager since 2006. As general manager, Keuck was responsible for everything from “bookkeeping to taxes,” she said.

When Moser decided to sell the store, she offered it first to Keuck. Keuck accepted, but not before she wrote her own business plan with the help of the Nebraska Business Development Center at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
