Dillard's Clearance at the Mall of the Bluffs reportedly is closing Aug. 3.

COUNCIL BLUFFS — A bright yellow “STORE CLOSING” sign is hanging above the Dillard’s Clearance entry at the Mall of the Bluffs, 1751 Madison Ave., for the public to see.

The store is reportedly closing Aug. 3. Through Sunday, everything in the store is 30% off, or 40% off ladies and junior apparel, according to sign displays and a store associate.

After Aug. 3, the closest Dillard’s in the area will be at Oak View Mall in Omaha. A Dillard’s at Crossroads closed in 2008.

The department store sells women’s and men’s apparel, junior clothing, sleepwear, accessories, handbags, shoes and home items.

Dillard’s opened in the Mall of the Bluffs in November 1988 and became an anchor store that was built onto the existing mall space. At the time, the 105,000-square-foot store was the second Dillard’s in the metropolitan area. It joined the mall’s two other anchor stores: J.C. Penney and Target, both of which been long closed at the mall. J.C. Penney moved to The Marketplace and Target opened a new location in Metro Crossing.

Attempts to reach Dillard’s corporate officials were unsuccessful.
