Logan Hotel

There was plan after plan to renovate the Logan Hotel, a historic building at 18th and Dodge Streets. A local architectural firm worked 15 years to see the structure survive.

A Lincoln-based commercial contractor that's renovating the historic Logan building in downtown Omaha has announced that it also will open an office at the site, 1802 Dodge St.

NGC Group plans a move in summer of 2020 to the century-old structure that sits along one of the city's busiest corridors, said founder Justin Hernandez. He said Omaha is home to many projects that his company will be working on over the next few years.

Logan Developer Mike Works said that NGC will own that 3,800-square-foot office piece of the property, which will have an entrance off of 18th Street.

In addition to the office space, the seven-story Logan at 1802 Dodge St. will be home to a 90-room Hotel Indigo, upper-floor residential condos, a restaurant (tenant still to be announced) and a speakeasy bar.

Though workers have been tackling various preparation tasks, Works, of Logan Hospitality, said last week that heavy rehabilitation on the Logan is expected to start "in earnest" in mid-June.

The $21 million rehabilitation follows years of vacancy and thwarted plans for revival. Works foresees the new activity on that corner as a boost to development north of Dodge and to connecting various and growing parts of the downtown area.
