The number of farms and ranches in Nebraska declined again last year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture said the number fell 400 from 2014 to 48,700 in 2015. The average size of Nebraska farms rose by 7 acres to 928 acres.

Iowa won’t get headquarters

Iowa has lost its bid for the corporate headquarters of the agricultural company to be formed from the DuPont-Dow Chemical merger. The Des Moines Register reported that DuPont and Dow said Friday that Wilmington, Delaware, will get the headquarters. The new company will retain strong presences in Johnston, Iowa, home to DuPont Pioneer, and Indianapolis, home to Dow Agrosciences.
