Twenty years after it was made, “Omaha (the movie)” will be available on Amazon instant streaming, for rent or to own, starting Tuesday.
That word comes from its director-screenwriter, Dan Mirvish, an Omaha native now based in Los Angeles.
“Omaha (the movie)” was Mirvish’s first feature film. Its rejection by the Sundance Film Festival led Mirvish to found Slamdance, a festival for independent films that has since fluorished.
Mirvish also said his latest movie, “Between Us,” will be screened Sept. 16 at Twin Creek in Bellevue, Village Pointe in Omaha and the Grand in Lincoln. Mirvish said he hopes to do some sort of satellite question-and-answer session with audiences for those screenings. Contact the theater box offices for ticket information.
Mirvish was in Omaha for an Aug. 1 screening of “Between Us” at Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater. The movie stars Taye Diggs and Julia Stiles.
