If a gym that serves pizza sounds like your kind of place, good news. Planet Fitness has opened a second gym in Omaha, near 60th and Ames Streets.
They dish out slices on the first Monday of every month.
“It's there to thank our members for being members,” said manager Mandy Maguire. “If they work hard every month, they deserve that extra cheat meal.”
Of course the gym has workout equipment, too. Maguire said there are about 80 cardio machines and more than 50 pieces of strength equipment in the 18,000 square feet facility. There is also a 30-minute full-body circuit and a 12-minute ab circuit.
Planet Fitness does not offer one-on-one personal training, but small group training is available. “We focus on general fitness,” Maguire said. “The majority of our members are first-time gym users.”
They even have a “lunk alarm,” which sounds whenever someone grunts while lifting weights or drops them to the floor.
Maguire said people have flocked to the new location since it opened Jan. 1 because there are not many fitness options in the area. The launch also coincided with the start of New Year's resolutions, which always gives gyms a boost, she added.
Planet Fitness opened its first branch in Omaha, near 132nd Street and West Center Road, in August.
