Add another farmers market stop to your list.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center’s market opens July 2 and is open to the public.

The market, which runs Tuesdays through Aug. 6, will be held on the UNMC ice rink.

This is the first year for the event, which is sponsored by the UNMC College of Public Health Wellness Council.

“We’re giving the opportunity for folks to have this available to them right where they work. And, of course, if the public would like to come, that’s just a bonus for us,” said Ellen Duysen, with the College of Public Health.

More than 40 varieties of vegetables will be offered by the piece or by the bushel. Wenninghoff Farm is providing the produce.

Demonstrations and information on using fresh produce in meals will be held each week.

The market is open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In the case of rain, the market will be canceled.

It’s located east of 42nd Street, between Emile Street and Dewey Avenue.
