Libby DiBiase in action

Omaha CrossFitter Libby DiBiase competes on “Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge.”

Omaha CrossFitter Libby DiBiase will compete for $10,000 on Sunday night’s episode of “Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge.”

The CMT show tests the strength, stamina and endurance of eight women who are pitted against each other in head-to-head competitions until one person is left standing. The last remaining challenger must then complete a timed obstacle course to win the cash prize.

DiBiase said a casting director reached out to the former University of Nebraska at Omaha track athlete to appear on the show, which filmed in June.

“I thought it would be super fun to take myself out of my comfort zone,” said DiBiase, 28.

The challenges in DiBiase’s episode include racing up a steep hill, throwing sandbags and pulling weighted sleds, among other things.

DiBiase, a consultant at Nutrition Pros in west Omaha, works out at CrossFit Kinesis in Gretna almost every day and eats a diet of mostly meat, vegetables and complex carbs. She continued those habits to prepare for the show.

“That’s the beauty of CrossFit. ... You’re ready for anything right away,” said DiBiase, who took up the sport in 2007.

She said she asked a few friends in law enforcement “how to take someone down” — in the show, the athletes often wrestle each other to gain an advantage.

DiBiase can’t reveal the outcome of the show but called it “a great experience.”

The episode is scheduled to air at 7 p.m. Sunday on CMT.
