The zoo has hit another milestone: 25 million member visits.

Memberships to the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium have grown from 900 in 1972 to nearly 90,000 today. The percentage of visitors that are zoo members has grown from 4 percent to 59 percent over that same period.

All that growth added together tallies 25 million member visits, a milestone the zoo hit on Sunday.

“This is an incredible milestone for our zoo,” said Sue Lyons, director of membership and guest services in a statement.

The zoo wasn't able to pinpoint exactly which guest took the zoo over the threshold.
