LINCOLN — Nebraska used goals from Jordan Jackson and Mayme Conroy to earn a 2-1 exhibition victory against Colorado College on Friday afternoon at the Nebraska Soccer Field.
Almost halfway through the first half, the senior Jackson put NU on the board when she received a through ball from Conroy, a junior from Omaha Skutt, and knocked it in from 8 yards out.
Senior goalkeeper Emma Stevens came up big in the final minute of the first half when she made back-to-back saves to preserve the Huskers’ 1-0 lead.
Nebraska capitalized on a scoring opportunity less than 10 minutes into the second half, as Conroy, last season’s leading scorer, connected on a shot from the top of the box for a 2-0 lead.
The Tigers cut their deficit to 2-1 at the 64:29 mark when Rachel Herron settled a cross and then netted a goal to the far post. But that was Colorado College’s only shot on goal in the second half as the Huskers held on.
NU held a 23-10 advantage in shots.
The Huskers return to action for their regular-season opener against Southeast Missouri State on at 6 p.m. Friday.
